I am off to attend CodeMash in Sandusky, OH. CodeMash is very similar to devLink in that they put on an event with top notch speakers for a lower price than the big conferences. I cannot comment too much on the event since this will be my first time attending. I do know some of the people that put the event on and I am sure it will be a great time. It is always a good idea to collaborate with other event coordinators to share ideas for what works and what doesn't. As a matter of fact, one of the key players Jim Holmes attended devLink 2008.
If you don't already have a ticket to CodeMash it is a little late. They are sold out for a capacity of 500 which is great. You can still signup for updates so you can stay informed for next year at their website though.
